General Statement

This position facilitates learning for students enrolled in Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Certificate | Quinsigamond. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of commitment to student success and strong technical background as an HVAC technician.
This program is currently housed at the Worcester Technical High School and classes are offered during the evening.
Supervision Received
The full-time faculty member reports directly to the Dean of the School of Business, Computing, and Applied Technologies.
Supervision Exercised:
The full-time faculty member exercises supervision over any personnel assigned to them.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach HVAC courses at various levels using lectures, discussions, practical demonstrations, and instructional materials to foster students' academic progress.
- Develop and update curriculum to meet current industry standards. Actively participate in ongoing curriculum & program review.
- Develop and update laboratory equipment and materials and integrate hands-on learning across curriculum.
- Remain current with industry trends and developments to ensure that course content remains relevant.
- Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities.
- Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes.
- Advise and mentor students to support their academic and career goals.
- Build a program advisory board to drive planning, development, implementation, operation, promotion, evaluation, and maintenance of the program.
- Work proactively with the Grants Development team on funding proposals to support the program.
- Work closely with Administrative Services to address laboratory and facility requirements and concerns.
- Perform administrative tasks associated with department activities.
- Participate in college service activities in concert with the provisions of the MCCC Agreement.
- Actively support the teaching and learning process; practicing honesty and integrity in and out of the classroom; striving to create and support a student-centered environment while fostering academic innovation and excellence.
- Actively work with other areas of the college to ensure a spirit of college wide collaboration, collegiality, civility, and teamwork.
- Embrace the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness and supporting the equal rights of all people by advancing the understanding and appreciation of differences including age, race, gender, ability, religious convictions, socio-economic status, ethnic heritage, or sexual orientation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Postsecondary certificate and/or Associate's degree in HVAC, Energy Systems Technology or related field
- Proven experience as an HVAC technician, and experience with controls, heat, refrigeration, power plant operations, building management, heat pumps, and HVAC systems design.
- OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience to address the minimum qualifications above.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- 3-5 years of current industry experience in HVAC.
- 3-5 years teaching or technical training experience
- Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
