Definition:
The Marketing and Communications Department is seeking a talented individual to fill the position of Web Content Developer.
West Valley College is part of the West Valley-Mission Community College District. Designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution, West Valley College enrolls about 15,000 students annually and minutes away from the heart of the Silicon Valley in a beautiful park-like setting on 143 wooded acres. The student population represents diverse communities from the cities of Saratoga, Campbell, and Los Gatos. Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications and in coordination with the College President, the Web Content Developer will perform a variety of duties in the development and maintenance of the college website, collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to oversee the accuracy and quality of the college website and provide support for West Valley Colleges marketing function. The college website presence is secure, functional, visually appealing, user-friendly, engaging, and consistently updated. This position handles a range of responsibilities that includes web design and development, routine site and content maintenance, and creation of social media content, planning, development, and engagement analysis. In addition, duties include the creation of digital archives and online newsletters. The Web Content Developer ensures compliance with appropriate policies, guidelines and standards and evaluates, implements and promotes services, software, and channels that meet the colleges promotional, communication and messaging needs for the web.

Assignment:
100% of full time, 37.5 hours per week, 12 months per year, with anticipated start date of April 2025. Schedule may change to include some evening or weekend hours, as needed. This position is represented by the West Valley-Mission Classified Employees Association (WVMCEA), Office, Technical & Business Services Employee Unit.

Salary and Benefits:
Anticipated Hiring Range:
- $9,316.00-$10,193.67 monthly (WVMCEA Salary Schedule, Range 74, Steps A-C).

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
- Education: Equivalent to an Associates degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, marketing, business, or a related field.
- Experience: Two years of responsible professional website design/administrator experience.
AND
Understanding of, and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
Desired Qualification:
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate the following desired qualification(s):
- Knowledge of all college social media accounts and experience in implementing strategies to increase brand visibility and traffic across all social media platforms, which includes local community engagement.
- Experience with institutional planning as it relates to college priorities, education master plan, accreditation, community services, and student demographics.
- Experience in web design and digital media at the community college or four-year university.
- Demonstrated expertise in written communication.
- Exercise a high-degree of initiative, judgment and self-management, discretion and decision- making to integrate organizational priorities, meet deadlines and achieve objectives.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders, model interpersonal skills, and demonstrate emotional intelligence.
- A well-informed educational philosophy as well as demonstrated listening skills and experience as a successful employee who can deliver on desired outcomes.
- Ability to speak and write in one or more language other than English.

- Principles and practices of web page and website construction and maintenance.

- Principles of graphics presentation and design in a web-based environment.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain and develop the college website; develop and administer a uniform web structure; and collaborate with district information technology staff.
- Research, write, edit, post and implement content information for use on college internet and intranet sites.
- Coordinate with graphic designers and others to prepare web pages and templates for use by departments, programs and administration.
- Confer with users for content and maintain currency on web technologies for possible inclusion into the website.
- Ensure that college website is accessible to students with disabilities according to ADA law and sections 504/508 of the Rehabilitation Act, Section 255 Guidelines, and conforms to applicable district policies.
- Ensure that college website is stable, well-designed, effective to use and kept up to date, has a consistent look and feel, and is properly maintained.
- Serve as a resource to faculty, staff and administration on the planning and development of websites; write and maintain documentation and instruction.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other district employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.
- Foster an environment that embraces diversity, integrity, trust, and respect.
- Be an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and communication.
